Build the athlete first.
Let the event come later.
RYFT gives elementary and middle school athletes a positive, structured place to learn track and field, build speed and coordination, gain confidence, and explore the sport without rushing specialization.
Youth athletes are not
small high school athletes.
They need clear coaching, positive structure, room to explore, and training that builds the athlete instead of chasing adult-style intensity too early.
Build Confidence
Help young athletes feel capable, coachable, and comfortable learning new skills.
Move Better
Develop coordination, rhythm, posture, body awareness, speed, and general athletic skill.
Learn The Sport
Introduce event skills clearly and safely so athletes understand more than one part of track and field.
Keep The Path Open
Let event fit emerge over time instead of locking a young athlete into one narrow lane too early.
What should your athlete
try first?
This is a starting direction, not a permanent event assignment. Young athletes should still explore, learn, and change as they develop.
Explore broadly first.
For most young athletes, the best first step is learning movement, confidence, and basic event skills before narrowing the focus.
Parent guidance only. RYFT still evaluates the athlete, age, readiness, and training context before recommending a path.
Different kids need
different starts.
Some thrive in a group. Some need direct one-on-one attention. Some simply need help finding which parts of the sport they enjoy.

Let young athletes
discover what fits.
Youth athletes can benefit from learning different event skills before specializing. The goal is better athletic development and better information about what they enjoy and do well.
A stronger foundation makes
the next stage easier.
The goal is not to make youth track feel like high school track early. It is to build enough movement skill, confidence, event awareness, and training habits that the athlete is better prepared when the sport becomes more demanding.
